Boy Scout Troop 175 celebrated its 50th anniversary on August 16, 2014 with a picnic at the Warrenton United Methodist Church. There were about 100 scouts, leaders, etc. attending. The troop is sponsored by the church.
Robert Farkas,Sr., the original Scout Master, was honored for his service to the troop. He was presented with a cap, neckerchief, and a hand carved wooden Indian Chief neckerchief slide carved by Committee Chairman, Chuck Cromack of the present troop. Bob had carved many slides for the scouts of Troop 175, as well as other scouts. Bob is the recipient of the Silver Beaver, the highest award given to adult scouts.
There have been many boys earning Eagle Scout in the troop. They were recognized and given a cap and neckerchief embossed with the 50th anniversary emblem. There were a few gray haired men attending. They were scouts when Bob was Scoutmaster.
